Why a Client Summit on Research Data Quality?

The research industry has been immersed in discussion and debate about the state of data quality ever since P&G's VP-Consumer & Market Knowledge Kim Dedeker made her revelations last September.
In discussions with several other client-side research directors, RFL discovered a diverse group of problems. P&G's and other market research departments have conducted "research-on-research" into their data, revealing myriad problems hitting on inconsistencies, lack of replicability and contradictory conclusions from data.
These deficiencies are not intentional–but as a flaw in this industry's output they demand your attention. Data quality issues pose a genuine threat to client side researchers and the companies they serve. Moreover the problems are compounded when data quality issues go unnoticed or ignored.
At "The Client Summit on Research Data Quality," your peers will share their internal research about the state of their data, including problems they have identified and potential solutions.
Presentations will educate and build awareness about specific data quality issues and conclude with:
- a list of questions that need to be asked internally
- similarly, questions that need to be posed to your data provider(s)
- courses of action to alleviate or remedy specific problems.
Consensus within the research industry is that any improvement(s) in data quality must emanate from and be driven by client researchers because they pay the bills.
